Matthew MitchellDr. Matthew Mitchell is currently a Senior Associate at Washington State University's Center to Bridge the Digital Divide (CBDD) and is working on the Communities Connect project. For the past three years he has served as the CBDD Global Networks Deputy Director, focusing on African IT policy and regulation. Matthew has a BA in Philosophy (University of Colorado), an MA in Education (Prescott College), and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies (Gonzaga University). His research areas include the impact of information technology (IT) on socioeconomic development, the effects of technology on social justice and inclusion, and leadership in the information society. Matthew's programmatic work has dealt with domestic and international socioeconomic development leveraged by the purposeful application of IT. As part of his teaching responsibilities, Matthew teaches undergraduate courses on social and technological change and faculty training courses in educational technology and eLearning. Recently, Matthew participated as a Salzburg Fellow in the Digital Inclusion Seminar and the Freeman Foundation's "Common Values" session, both held in Austria. Matthew lives in Spokane, Washington.
